I bought these LEDs to put in my headlights. how fragile. This may not be the case for all applications, but I needed some modifications to both lights. I had to shave off the socket where the bulbous corner lugs snap onto the LED. I used a dremil for this. The other bulb installed with no problems, but the bulb stabilizer would not accommodate the increased thickness of the new bulb. I used the dremil again to open up the gap a bit. I realize it seems like a lot of work to get this lamp to work, but I didn't want to buy CFLs every time I dropped my incident light. lol. You will also need to remove or bypass the ballast in your fixture, if present. Not difficult at all. You also need to know how to install the LED in the socket. The wires must be routed to the correct terminals. There is a diagram for this, but it is difficult to determine the pole where the black and white wires go. When looking at the diagram, make sure you are looking at the smooth surface of the LED and not the heatsink on the back of the LED.
