It has a design that only a company CFO would appreciate and the mounting screw has received less attention than your last Tinder connection, but still is it functional. Let's start with the optics: the photos do not show how little attention was paid to the design. I hide this behind my monitors so I don't have to look at them, but I can still connect something on my desk without getting under it. The mounting screw is almost useless without modification. The small soft plastic plate that supports the screw needs a metal washer behind it so you can clamp the table without breaking the plastic. See attached photos for my solution. A quick trip to the hardware store for washers and a new machine screw solved the problem.
