One of these is needed to protect your van

It's very easy to use, just plug it in. I like the initial tests it goes through. You just have to block it when you use it so it doesn't go away.

    Trust accessories and consumables

The number one reason for surge protectors is safety. Forget that you have invested a lot of money in your motorhome. Think about the time lost when a power surge burns out all the electrical components on board.

great protection for my 30 amp trailer

great protection for my caravan. Already used 4 times. You plug it in, wait 20 seconds while it analyzes power and tells you if it can be plugged in, then keeps checking power and shutting down if there's a problem. I recommend this for all caravans. I have a 30 amp service.

    Bad Design - Line Filter

Bad Design. The male end of my RV plug will not fit into the female end of the Southwire surge protector because the plug cover's rotating hinge is so close to the outlet that it gets in the way. Unless you have a dedicated set of security drivers, you cannot remove the hinge cover. Left me vulnerable when I discovered this problem on a hike last weekend. Didn't the engineers on this thing consider the standard RV cable?

    May have saved a fire

Started doing this after some RVs at the park experienced power problems after a hurricane surge. The device started cutting power to my RV and I thought it was the device but after investigating I found some hidden electrical faults in the RV's wiring that could easily have started a fire. Don't use your RV without one of these devices and it's a great value compared to many others. Perfect for the spirit. electrical insurance

    worth your money!

I was wondering if it was worth buying, but I've heard too many horror stories about dodgy RV sites. We were about to do a four week trip down south and I decided to do it. In Arkansas, of course, we stayed overnight in the park. I plugged it in and almost immediately there was an open bottom error. We called the owner and she took us to a new place. No problem. That night, a violent thunderstorm nearby caused a power outage. Who knows what would have happened if we had stayed put with open…

I purchased this unit on the recommendation of an electrical engineer. Many campgrounds, particularly older and/or state campgrounds, have electrical sockets set up incorrectly - hot/neutral reversed, broken ground, etc. To be sure, you need a device that will check for correct polarity, ground, and voltage. This device looks for incorrect or improperly installed utility poles, protecting our trailer electrical system from damage as well as surges or surges that can damage equipment. It also…

    • Almost OK

It looked like a really great product with good reviews but if you have a Tiffin with a manual power cord you won't be able to plug it in and use it. The flap design on the protector is about 1/4" from the bottom and close to the plug, which prevented me from getting a good connection from the RV plug to the surge protector. The cable went only halfway in front of the top of the RV plug and became stopped by a watertight valve. As I didn't want to use a protector where half the copper was…
