I used it once and it was great. Now it doesn't work

I used it once and it was great. Now that's no longer possible. I'm a teacher and sometimes I have to leave the door open to get out and run and run errands, every time after the first time it didn't take long! I would spend 3 minutes fitting it in the door if I could be back with an errand and less time!
