Installation Nightmare

This is actually a set of nine separate parts to assemble or modify. Four of the two Phillips mounting screws. The two remaining slots. They didn't even have the decency to use today's common Phillips and slotted screw combination to attach an internal component to an electrical box or low-voltage frame with an "F" connector and an HDMI connector. So you end up juggling screwdrivers. You will need a jeweler's screwdriver to install the two eyeglass-loop sized Phillips screws that secure the HDMI connector. Okay, let's face it, how many of you carry something small with you when you're knocking on electrical appliances? The "F" connector is too short. If you don't want to rely on maybe 3 or 4 threads to secure the coax connection to the wall, you will need to remove the hex nut securing the "F" connector and either replace the barrel connector or install without the hex nut . So back to the tool box to pull out the wrench to unscrew the hex nut. However, to Fosman's credit, the fixed hex on the barrel connector fits into the plastic of the bezel. If you are careful, screwing the cable's "F" connector into the wall will not rotate the barrel. It turns out that the RG-6 "F" connector with a gasket simultaneously serves to fix the barrel connector to the front panel and tightly connect the cable. In the end, the removed hex nut becomes an additional part. While the HDMI pigtail is indeed smart and useful, the remaining plastic bezel and decorative bits feel flimsy. A much more elegant solution would be to ditch the two-piece bezel and end it in favor of a one-piece piece. November 2014
