Review on TOPSKY Computer Desk With Bookshelf/Metal Hole Cable Cover 1.18" Thick Desk (55", Rustic Brown) by Chelsey Smith

Great, sturdy desk good for me

This desk is surprisingly sturdy, not just in it's final constructed form but even the individual pieces are fairly solid. All the pieces were there and I think there were even a couple extra screws as well. I liked that the desk was a single solid piece on top, and the bookshelf thing on the bottom is useful for storing my surge protector and other things like that. The desk doesn't wobble at all for me, even when leaning on it with quite a bit of force. One thing to keep in mind when putting it together is to quadruple check that you've oriented the leg pieces correctly. I had them in the right order, but facing the wrong direction which made it impossible to screw the top of the desk to the frame at all which had me thinking it was a defective product until I realized I had made the mistake.I have my computer on the left side of the desk and a 27 inch monitor slightly offset to the right of the cable hole (I kind of wish they gave you a solid block to cover it with because the thing they do give you isn't flush with the top of the desk but if your monitor stand is big enough it would probably just sit over the hole if you didn't care about using it for your cables). My single biggest complaint is about the depth. It's only about 23.5" deep which isn't exactly abnormally narrow, but it does feel like it could stand to be a little bit deeper at times. You could probably alleviate some of this by having a smaller monitor or putting your monitor on a monitor arm, but ultimately it's not too bad, just worth keeping in mind to do your measurements around where you'll be setup at.All things considered I think it's a pretty great desk. There's tons and tons of mediocre, almost identical, options for desks on ebay so it's very difficult to narrow it down. You take a risk and end up with some giant thing that's low quality and difficult to send back. I originally wanted an L-shape (which this company apparently sells), and then I wanted a standing desk, and ultimately decided to just keep it simple and try to limit the chances of ending up with something that had a lot of "options" but was so low quality that none of it really worked. So, I decided on this simple, straightforward desk without a lot of bells and whistles but does the most basic aspect that is expected of a desk and that is be well constructed, solid and sturdy, and in this case priced well enough to not feel like you got robbed.

Pros
  • Easy to put together. Looks nice. Fair price. I use it with two 20 inch monitors.
Cons
  • The desk may be too heavy for some people to move
