Review on πŸ“± RAM X-Grip Large Phone Mount: Secure Handlebar U-Bolt Base for Effortless Smartphone Access by Paul Zimmer

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Strong grip, there are flaws.

Pros: Well, the grip itself holds the phone pretty well, no complaints. I love that you can adjust the position of the phone however you like. I also love that almost every part of the phone grip is replaceable, so you don't have to buy a whole new grip if one part fails. Cons: The rubber grips for the swingarms need to be glued on and RAM supplies glue in the box, although it's easy to see that the outside of the rubber ruins the aesthetic. They are also very generous with the amount of glue provided. Question - why not seal at the factory? They also sell money for extra glue, saving your customers extra work. In addition, the hinged ball is tightened by two spring-loaded plates and doesn't really like to stay in place. It tends to tilt the phone when I'm navigating winding roads, and its design allows for limited traction on the ball (or maybe it's just mine). The handle is also a bit high. This allows for better adjustment to where you want to mount it on the bike, but on my MT09 it sits right in the middle and comes out halfway out of the tank. This should be customizable. The rubber piece is an additional security feature, nice but not very high quality. The large one barely fits over my Galaxy S8+ and case. Also, most of my friends have grips, and all of them have had their rubber parts torn. I rarely used it as the phone grip itself does the job very well. Summary: This is a solid grip, one of the best out there and I really wanted to give this 5 stars but I can't. At least not for this version.
