I have decided to go back and actually review OWC because I think they are grossly underrated. I skimmed some of the 1 star reviews to refresh my memory (huh, no pun intended) and I think MANY bad experiences are due to people not doing a thorough research on what they need. I bought 2 x 8GB for my Macbook Pro 9.1 mid 2012 and I will tell you. It's like a new computer. The memory pressure just from running Chrome at 2x2GB was slowly killing me, very slowly, always in yellow and increasing. and the difference is amazing. Going from 4GB to 16GB of free galloping via Chrome changed a lot for me. I'm an artist, so the fear of Photoshop crashing from having other apps open was a big issue. I've never opened a laptop before, so when I saw that OWC had a YouTube channel called "macsales". I looked them up. Wow. Depending on the model, even playlists! I watched all the upgrade videos for my model and learned how to convert the optical drive into a second drive by removing it and installing the HDD/SSD on the caddy. You had really clear, beautiful, professional videos on how to install RAM on your Mac, everything I needed to feel confident doing everything myself. You had so many good videos! I feel like the PC has some really reliable online resources, but the Mac is a bit lacking, especially when it comes to servicing older models. So I really appreciate the work OWC is doing to make their products accessible to people like me who know next to nothing (and still don't know, but I must have gotten it right). To me, that level of support for your customers, or anyone browsing YT, is the definition of good customer service. After buying RAM from Revain and watching their channel, I got a 500GB Mercury Electra 6G SSD directly from their website, then used their YT channel, swapped out the RAM, switched the HDD to an SSD and removed the optical drive . Install Caddy + another SSD. Everything went so smoothly and everything works great, I am absolutely satisfied with my purchases from them. I will definitely look at other OWC products. When they sent me the SSD I also got a cool metal screwdriver handle with a pocket clip - unscrew the top and there's a whole bunch of attachments inside for you to slot in and use. Pleasant surprise and praise!
