I have a similar product on my 2015 MacBook Pro, but given its size and the very narrow range on the new MBPs I didn't see it as an option. On a whim I decided to poke around and see if there was a solution for my 2017 model and decided to give it a try. I was impressed with the thin dimensions and metal construction which seemed like a solid solution so I gave it a try. You are perfect! The installation was very easy and the steps for correctly gluing the film were clearly thought through. The lid slides smoothly and I didn't have the issues that other reviewers have reported with the carriage moving on its own, even though I regularly carry my laptop in my bag on my side. They are definitely thin enough not to touch the laptop. when closed - the orientation of the camera is such that on contact it can hit and likely rub the trackpad. I followed the instructions carefully, used a flashlight aimed at the screen so I could see the camera clearly for alignment, and had no issues with the camera. There are no partial clogs or "shadows" at the edges - the picture is perfect. I regularly video call for work, so I've definitely used this extensively. My wife was so impressed that she asked me to install video calling on her 13" MBP and she had the same very positive experience. Do I plan to install this on my phone or iPad? I was more concerned about having a camera in front of my face 8-10 hours a day and I'm not sure how this or a similar product will work on a phone that's always possible. in and out of pockets. So if you're looking for a slim and virtually invisible option to securely cover your laptop's camera (goodbye duct tape!), I can't recommend this product highly enough!
