This is a very durable tea brewing pot. I like how it has a ridge around the top and is very strong. I find it very easy to lift the pitcher by holding the rim at the top when putting it in and taking it out of the fridge door. It's easy to grab and strong. I find that the glass that makes up this jug is also very strong, having accidentally knocked it against the rim of the sink a couple of times while washing, but it hasn't cracked or splintered. There is a built in filter under the lid to strain the loose leaf tea so it stays in the pot and doesn't end up in the cup. The filter simply snaps on and off for cleaning. What you do with it is you take the lid off the pot but leave the filter in place and place the tea leaves on the bottom of the pot and fill it with cold water. There is a hole on the side of the lid that allows you to pour tea into a glass or mug without removing the lid or filter. Simply twist the lid gently to align the hole with the spout of the glass jug. You can use it to brew both loose tea and tea bags cold. I brew a pot of cold green tea every night so it's ready the next day. I find that cold brewed green tea has a much milder and less bitter taste than hot brewed green tea. The purchase was worth it.
