UPDATE: I recently had an instance where I needed to use my MacBook Pro as my main work computer with Adobe CC Illustrator and Photoshop. Because I used these applications more intensively than usual, I continued to drain the battery faster than usual. I chose pass-through charging because the other ports were full. It worked great and fast so I upped my rating. I have several adapters and one of them is close. I use them on my 2018 15" MacBook Pro and iMac at work. Storing the magnetic cable is a great idea, but useless since the cable is only 3 inches long. I would have liked a longer cable. Since my MacBook only Using USB-C I was able to test the transfer speed of an external Samsung T5 SSD both directly connected and through this adapter. A 2.7GB file through the adapter took 90 seconds. I did it 4 times. I then got my SSD plugged directly in and the same 2.7GB file took 5 seconds, I've never encountered any errors when transferring files, the same file copied to a USB flash drive showed the same time ADVANTAGES: - Small , compact size - Multiple ports - Flow-through charging with much smaller, expensive brands - Expensive.
