Smash! - Nintendo Systems

I was really looking forward to this game but didn't try to live up to my expectations as it's the first great game on 3DS. I'm happy to report that I was pretty accurate, but it was a little better than I thought it would be. The only thing that bothers me is that I can't change the movement from the round pad to the dpad, which is what I was really hoping for (if you know a way I missed, please let me know). My pillow handles are worn so my thumb slips off easily so this might be a personal matter. My other problem is the online game lag. I have pretty good internet and usually low ping, high upload and download speeds, so I don't think this is an issue. Also, my phone was off as some people recommend. Normal play seemed pretty smooth throughout each session. I haven't had any issues with settings or player counts or items slowing down my system or appearing out of place in my game. I was very happy with everything else. There is a large number of features and content, especially for a 3D game. Classic, All Star, Home Run and several other game modes are back along with a few others. Smash Run is a blast and I will be playing it a lot with my friends and family. I feel like Nintendo is doing a great job of combining old ideas with new flashes, and this game is no exception. As we said, the classic mode is back, but you can choose between three paths. and you can change the difficulty depending on how much gold you want to spend. Not only that, at the end of the credits you have to go through another mini-game and I find that particularly funny! There's also a new trophy game that I find interesting as well. With all the awesome modes, you'll have to see for yourself! The character roster has grown significantly, although I felt like there were a lot more unlocked than in previous games. Personally, I enjoy unlocking them, but I was glad I was able to work with my favorites right away. They have a great customization feature that allows you to change your Nintendo Fighters' stats and abilities if you so choose. Ability Modifications are changes to normal abilities with some increased effects or slight differences in general. Great idea as you can battle your mario with mario's friend and see who is the best plumber :). Over time, items in battles become more and more interesting. There are so many new ones that I can't name them all (not that I remember), but a few that stand out are the addition of a Master Ball, which very often has a Legendary Pokemon, a 1up flag, the either gives you a timed battle or a battle in a warehouse and a choppy roar (I think) shoving people around like Mario's water cannon. I'm sure I missed a lot of things and made a few mistakes in my review, but I highly recommend this game to anyone who has 3ds and likes to smash. Just for reference, I have a Fire Emblem: Awakening Special Edition 3ds. My brother has a 3ds XL and both systems seem to play pretty much the same, except of course he has a bigger screen.
