Stopped working after 35 uses

This lamp stopped working after about 35 uses (40 minutes average per use). I use it for trail riding and it can really scare you when all of a sudden the lights SEEM to go out. The battery is 4 bars, and I hold my hand to the flashlight and see the reflected light, but it sort of randomly chooses to transition to "going next to the bike" 100 lumens. 100 lumens is dangerous at best, like brake failure when going downhill. I've been a NiteRider fan ever since the little acid batteries dangled from the front of the handlebars like a 5 pound weight. I was skeptical of all other brands until the NiteRider bulbs I bought only lasted a year and averaged 4 night hours a week. That is not much. Lights and moving lights don't have that long battery life, but at least they never stopped emitting light halfway up a hill. I would stay away from NiteRider lights.
