Review on 🎧 Yamaha TSR-700 7.1 Channel AV Receiver: 8K HDMI & MusicCast (Renewed) by Sheppard Priest

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works well but with one caveat

I thought it could fit 9 speakers because the picture shows slots for 9 speakers on the back. I have 5 in the living room, 2 in the kitchen and 2 in the dining room. So I bought the device. But as soon as I connected the speakers, I found that 9 speakers are not supported. The manual says "When Zone2 output is on, there is no sound from the surround back speakers in the main zone." The manual can be found on the Yamaha website. It is located under "TSR-700 / PREPARATIONS / Placing speakers (speakers) / Speaker systems using the unit's internal amplifier (advanced setup)". This means: This device can *itself* only drive 7 loudspeakers. in summary: 1) sound sources for this unit 2) this unit drives 5 speakers in the common room 3) use zone 2 line out from this unit to my old receiver (Yamaha RX-V371). This guy connects 2 speakers in the kitchen 4) from an old receiver to a third mini receiver that drives 2 speakers in the dining room. This setting works well. There is no noticeable lag between the living room and the kitchen. They're in the same area, so any lag is very noticeable (and annoying). There is a very minimal lag in the dining area, but the dining area itself is removed from the family room/kitchen so that doesn't bother me.

Cons
