Possible broken block, soap opera effect and thoughts on VRR and THX gaming

I got this TV for VRR and THX gaming for my Xbox One X. I have a 2019 4 Series TV and am familiar with TCL. ----- Defects ----- When my Xbox is plugged in, the screen flashes black, Game Mode and the Dolby Vision logo flashes on and off. Finally, after going through all the options in Xbox and TV, using the HDMI 3 port was the only thing that worked. I still had weird blinking from time to time, but it was enough to experience VRR and THX. ----- VRR и THX ----- (к вашему сведению, телевизор будет работать только с разрешением 120 Гц при разрешении 1440p на xbox one x ) Я установил xbox на 1440p, 120 Гц, игровой режим, телевизор в режиме игры Many Thanks. My opinion - depends on the game. I've played Far Cry 5, The Outer Worlds and Alice Madness Returns (to see how older games would look) and didn't notice any difference from my 2019 4k TCL 4 series. I saw the same thing from left to right. Jitter from choppy images. The color of the FC5 appeared a bit washed out, similar to what others say about THX mode. The Outer Worlds colors and details looked amazing. The lag (from thumb flick to TV action) was similar to my 2019 TCL 4, which for me is reasonably responsive. I tried these games with vrr off and at 4k 60hz and everything looked the same. TOW seems a bit more volatile, but nothing special. I noticed a BIG difference from COD WW2. Panning was SMOOTH! It seemed to take advantage of 120 Hz. It was very impressive! ----- Movies, Apps, General Browsing ----- My wife and I have been watching LOST on my 7 year old 60 inch Sony 1080p TV for the past month. So we watched Lost again on this TV. My wife hated him. I struggled to get this set to display an image that looked good to my eyes. I even went into the Roku app and tried the expert picture settings. It was too bright and the colors weren't. It also has a sort of permanent SOAP OPERA EFFECT. I experienced the same with the 2019 TCL 6 series. I disabled ALL relevant settings. But it was still there. My panel was PERFECT! No haze or streaks. or anything. No dark or light corners. ----- eARC ----- According to TCL's AVSFORUM representative, this TV will stream DD True HD and DTS MA via eARC. I was hoping to route this high-resolution audio from the Plex app on the TV to my receiver, but I've had no luck. I've tried disabling transcoding on Plex but it may be a settings issue. Someone on the Plex forums mentioned that the app on the TV won't stream these audio formats, it has to come from a TV box like an Nvidia Shield or a Dune player or something. ----- FINAL THOUGHTS ----- For gaming, it looks like using VRR and 120Hz is game specific, which is a bummer. Maybe TV technology is ahead of gaming hardware/software. THX is a confirmation of the list of requirements that the TV must meet. Sounds like marketing bullshit, but we'll see what RTINGS has to say when they finally review this set. Soap opera effect and horrible color (although I'm sure you could tweak the color.) I can't live with that. I prefer to buy the TCL 4 series right away. The fewer picture options, the better. I want to watch a series and not fiddle with all the settings trying to find the perfect picture quality. The TV has been returned.
