Many years ago when dinosaurs roamed the earth, the light switch in the downstairs hallway started smoking when I turned on the light. A mouse probably chewed through the wiring or something. I wasn't and still am not willing to pay an electrician a mega buck to come out and fix it, we just won't be using that switch or light. We have faucets and washing machines, and one day someone will transform this place and put better lighting on it. The other light switch is for ambient lighting, which is light sensitive (turns on when it's getting dark, turns off when daylight is detected), so the switch should stay on at all times. However, I'm tired of the piece of tape covering the switches. They work and magnetically snap onto the switch plate screws (yes, those two little screws). Yeah well they don't match our switches but I don't care they do the job and look way better than duct tape which gets old anyway.
