With this reasoning, I'm assuming the air filter replacement icon is based on cabin air quality, not installation time. I know that Subzero recommends replacing these air filters on a regular basis, but I noticed that the air filter replacement icon only started blinking almost two years into active use after the fridge was installed. I should point out that my somewhat old-fashioned wife regularly changed Na Bicarb's open canister, a practice that existed long before air filters were developed. Bought in July, installed in August and updated their bicarbonate tray. Last week, at the end of September, the icon started blinking again!?! I think it doesn't matter if the trigger is air quality or time, the fact that it only took two months to "give up" suggests this is an inferior product to the original filter. For now I plan to rely on bicarbonate to eliminate the odor. Control. I'm not sure if ordering directly from Subzero would have been a better experience as this product shares the same markings as the OEM unit I replaced.
