I used this to make 48 buttons out of very thick premade upholstery fabric for two tufted ottomans I built and it was a nightmare. Little did I know they were only for fine fabrics - my fault for not doing my due diligence. But with a little improvisation, plus a liberal use of superglue and some extra tools (steel tubing, marker base, etc.) I was able to make the buttons look amazing. The bottom of my buttons didn't look good, but the top did (and that's all that really matters). Also, they withstood a very strong mason's line pull of up to 2 inches of high density foam and 3 layers of batting without falling apart (did I mention I used a lot of super glue?).
