I bought this stand because my previous one had a tripod shape that didn't work if I wanted to use my portable monitor on anything other than a hard flat surface. My monitor would fall off if I tried to put it on the couch next to me. This monitor has a wide square base and feels very secure and stable even on a bed or sofa. Getting a good angle and a wide, solid base was easy because you can adjust all three sections. The screws and knobs initially turned and wouldn't tighten, but I found that all I had to do was put my finger on the screw and hold it while I turned the knob. It doesn't have to be very tight to stay in place. I am very happy with it. It's lightweight and doesn't take up much space, so it fits nicely in my laptop bag. My 15.6 inch monitor holds up without any problems.
