Review on Olympus J300 Microcassette Recorder by Brandon Hilton

Good recorder but you may need a J500 instead. This recorder is a stripped down version of the Pearlcorder J500. It lacks an index marker, a three-light battery status indicator, and the buttons for record, play, etc. lack a gold metal overlay. It's still a good recorder and is great if you don't need other features. As far as I know the J500 and J300 were intended to replace the old Pearlcorder L200 and L400 but these two recorders cannot provide the same analogue microcassette recorder functionality as these older recorders. A real shame.
