Our son has loved Magna-Tiles/Picasso tiles since he was three years old and builds very complex structures. Now he's 5, he still plays with them. He also likes to run on marbles and has already built a set that allows the ball to fall down the slides and chutes. So he was excited about this add-on, which is actually designed for walking on marbles. The good news is that these unpronounceable APCHFIOG tiles are compatible with the above brands and all Magna-Tiles clones. The square tiles are 3" x 3". This is great news because it greatly expands the possibilities. We probably had 300+ tiles from different sets that can now be used with this one. The kit does not contain enough parts for something too complex. I was surprised to see that the ball was real wood. However, it is very light and could be a bit heavier for better travel. When there were complaints, I thought that the pipes were also attached to magnets. They don't. They have little snap pins that fit into the holes on the square pieces. In hindsight, that makes sense because it creates a stronger bond than magnets. Younger children need adult help. The holes are very small and must be perfectly aligned before mating. I would say the minimum age should be 4 or 5, not 3.
