We used these to close the cutouts where our fish tank hangs from the filters it used to have. We switched from built-in filters to aquarium gravel filtration and there were large rectangular holes in the 4 aquarium lids that let light through (light pollution). Large holes were unsightly, a possible spot for adventurous fish to jump out of the tank, and the hole could increase evaporation from the tank. We've searched online and found people suggesting using a toaster set at 250 degrees Fahrenheit to heat a plastic wrap (already cut to size) on a foil-lined baking sheet until it's very pliable. The plastic was as pliable as uncooked lasagna noodles. Using a spatula and oven mitts, we placed a sheet of hot plastic on the opposite top front corner of the gas cap to use as a mold. It was hot work, the part cooled in its new shape and solidified again.
