Noise and clock stop easily fixed

Like many reviewers, my clock made noise and stopped the first day I got it. But I found this can be easily fixed. Why would I fix this thing I just bought it? Well it seemed like sending it back was more work than fixing it. Some people have complained about the grinding noise. If you look closely, you'll notice that the noise comes from the second hand scratching the dial slightly. Mine made a noise as the second hand went from 10 to 2. The watch stopped as the minute hand stood at 11 and the second hand swept across the 10 to 2 range and got stuck on the minute hand. The reason for this is that the movement is mounted askew on the dial. Because the hands are not parallel to the dial, they stop when they reach the bottom point. To fix this, turn the watch over and you will see that the movement (the part where you put the battery) is held in the pocket with 2 clips in 12 and 6 places. If the mechanism isn't perfectly flat, that's your problem. You can check it by clicking on it while looking at the dial, the hands will move and become parallel to the dial. I used a small screwdriver to push the clips back against the mechanism body and it held straight up. The clock runs smooth and quiet. Yes it shouldn't be and that's why I gave them 2 stars but when they work I love it.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Infinitely slow
