The hardware on this product is solid. But sadly you need an app for this and the app is terrible! They want permission for everything in your phone just so you can use an app that makes a screen light up. They are definitely mining for information.

I've been trying to build one of these with various Adafruit products with limited success for years. This one lets you browse a community creating GIFs custom for this device while also easily allowing you to make your own - something my daughter spends much more time on than me. If my house wasn't already filled with clocks and speakers I might use it as one, but as a custom GIF display it works brilliantly once you download the app.

The pictures of it are really cool and I only wanted to use it as a clock anyway. But it doesn't support c to c charging and the audio skips when connected to a google home mini. Works great in my setup to be a clock though so not all is lost, wish I would have gone with the lenovo smart clock instead though.

Awesome! for the price i bought this, it really surpassed my expectations. The app involved with it works well and the connection, volume, and look are all way better than i thought. Easy to use and goes very loud while keeping clear sound with bass. The price has went up since i bought it but still honestly worth the price.
