This case was definitely a solid alternative to my old one which cracked after years of use. If you don't prefer a screen protector, you can peel it off the adhesive to attach or detach it at will. I've also found that the touchscreen is easier to use (and generally stays cleaner) if you place a screen protector directly on the phone's screen rather than attaching it to a case. Technically, this may put your screen at "greater risk," but it's definitely better than removing the screen protector entirely.
