Review on HP iPAQ 5455 Pocket PC: Ultimate Performance and Portability by Sam Anez

Great product, albeit a small buggy.

I've been using my iPAQ for about a week now. I used to have an Aero and the iPAQ 3800 series, I have to say they've finally grown. This product has all the charms that I love. My Bluetooth is communicating with my Sony Ericsson phone. This allows me to surf the web using AT&T's GSM network, which is a VERY nice feature for me. 802.11 access is great for the home or office, but I don't surf the web much on this device, mostly just Pocket Portal or sites formatted for the smaller screen. I'm amazed at the number of pages that are formatted like this. Even raven! The screen is very bright and clear, much easier to read than previous models. The media player is great and indeed. Now to the complaint. It seems that the device was assembled in a hurry. The features are great, but they don't always fit well in a sandbox. I haven't seen the terrible slowness that others have complained about, but with all the apps I've downloaded I can say it's faster than my 3800. The reason I'm not seeing it is probably, because I use task manager to close apps I'm done with. What annoys me the most is that the bluetooth and/or wifi drivers won't start due to lack of memory. A soft reset solves the problem, but I would be curious to know how much memory is required to run them. I have a lot of free memory. All units' The shortcomings do not detract from the usefulness of the device for me. I think HP has a few bug fix releases to start with. Overall I'm very happy with the device and would recommend it if you can handle a few minor annoyances.
