I bought this to replace another version of these radios, sold under a the name Rugged Radios, that died. I've had two of the Rugged Radios to use with friends when we go Jeeping out on the trails and use them a lot. I'm part of a Jeep group where I found out about the Rugged Radios radios and almost everyone has two so we can use them if we're out with just one other Jeep. The Rugged brand, which is a very good radio, is no longer available in this model and I think these are the actual manufacturer, of course in China, since they work almost identically to the Rugged ones. They actually have a little more functionality and use a free software called Chirp to add frequencies, etc. The price is great and I can use the high capacity battery and ear plug from the other one so it's an even better value for me. This particular model in the ad on ebay showed a 5-years warranty but it wasn't in writing anywhere once I got the radio. I contacted the manufacturer via ebay and was able to get a message confirming the 5-years that I can use if I ever have an issue. So far, this radio is awesome.
