In like Flynn - Computer Components

So far so good. Received it today and installed it in 5 minutes simply because I had cables on my desktop. You have a Lenovo Ideacentre 300 series and upgraded from 4GB to 8GB. So happy I did. It's like a brand new desktop! My item arrived in a padded envelope and the chips were sealed in a plastic sleeve that safely contained 2 chips. The system accepted it without any problems. As soon as I got into Windows, I checked the system information and it said 8GB physically installed, 7GB available (the system reserves some capacity for use either due to Windows or other settings). Always go and check if the system has reached the full amount, otherwise you may have a defective chip, or you may just need to replace the chip in the slot - I don't understand why this works, but sometimes it works that way. If the Windows system information doesn't show it, go to the cmos/setup boot menu and check the amount of RAM there to see if it's a Windows issue or a confirmed hardware issue. Do yourself a favor, just get the appropriate update. kit rather than hoping an existing chip will be compatible with it. It's a headache when it doesn't, and for the price, it really shouldn't break the bank. I've tried shuffling chips before and even though they weren't compatible only a quarter of the time, it was still a hassle, back ordering another chip, waiting for the post, re-opening the case, etc. Get it just the kit. I'll update if it fails, but no news is good news for now.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
