Review on πŸ’Ύ Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 2TB SSD (MZ-V7S2T0BW) by Dila Annisa ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's the best purchase I ever made, I will definitely do it again.

Acquired in August 2022 for 26,700. for a stationary computer. It is optimal for working with large files, especially if you need not only high read speed, but also write speed. For comparison, I made several benchmarks in a row with the Samsung Magician program (see photo) so that the solid state warms up well. To summarize: - without a heatsink, the temperature rose to 83 C, then throttling turned on and the controller went into economy mode to prevent overheating, while the speed could drop by a third. - with the Espada ESP R-6 heatsink, after being tortured by a series of benchmarks, the solid state showed a maximum of 71 C. In the normal mode of file copying - no higher than 65 C. I recommend the 970 EVO Plus if you prioritize reliability, consistently high speeds and take care of cooling. I bought this SSD myself, running into an ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 2TB marriage, which worked flawlessly for 2 weeks and died. They returned the money, added 3 thousand and took the Samsung. If you need an SSD for games, then it is quite possible to get by with a cheaper drive. For 5 years, for example, the Plextor 1TM8PeG SSD (there is a Marvell controller and Toshiba memory) has served me faithfully. Speeds by CrystalDiskMark 2200/1200. I compared the loading time in games - there is no difference with the 970 Evo Plus. Cyberpunk 2077 - loading any save 18 sec (HDD - 28). GTA V - loading the story mode 21 sec (HDD - 57). Win10 also loads the same way on both SSDs (it varies between 43-47 seconds for me, judging by the event log 100). If a drive from Plextor, for example, was offered at half the price or twice as much, and at the same time with a five-year warranty, then I would take it. In any case, if the budget allows, choosing this SSD from Samsung will not regret it. It will pay off handsomely with the time and nerves saved.

Pros
  • - capacious; - recording resource 1200 TB; - top speed (for PCIe 3.0 x4); - reliable manufacturer (Samsung uses its own SSD components); - proprietary utility for transferring the system in just three clicks "Samsung Data Migration".
Cons
  • - can get hot up to 83 C, radiator is desirable. This is especially true for laptops. (see photo for comparison of temperatures and speeds of SSD with and without a heatsink); - add another 500-1000 to the considerable price. to purchase a radiator.
