Review on πŸ”¦ Petzl E78CHB 2 PIXA 3 Multi-Beam Headlamp: Proximity Lighting, Movement, & Long-Range Vision with Constant Light Technology (100 lm) - Black/Yellow by John Pound

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Finally a high-quality headlight. Robust, durable, reliable. Tank.

After my original cheap black diamond broke and then had problems with a 3 month old $80 Princeton 2x 123a drive (cheap plastic broke and it wouldn't switch to high settings anymore (never dropped or abused) )) I spent about 10 hours of serious research to find the best headlamp. I live in the mountains of Washington State and we have short daylight hours in the winter. I also work on a farm and enjoy being outside. That's why I need a good flashlight. My criteria for "best" are strength, durability, reliability. I was initially drawn to the Petzls' Tikka and Surefire lines. But was skeptical after reading reviews on the Tikka and concerned about the size/weight of the sure fire. Then I stumbled upon the PIXA 3. "This is it." The thing is a tank. I'm not even a bit worried about the abuse of this headlight. It's a bit big, but for the serious headlamp/gear/outdoors connoisseur, that's not a problem. If you're looking for a really good quality headlamp that won't break when you need it (surprisingly rare these days), look no further.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • It's fine
