Professional keyhole making with this tool

I'm an experienced hobby carpenter but this was my first time trying to make a keyhole with this tool. First, for those thinking of using this router bit on a hand drill, it won't work well because you can't control the initial plunge action and most drill bits aren't fast enough for side cuts. This bit is designed for high speed. I used it in my table router and attached two wood stops to the tabletop to make two identical keyholes on a pair of Brazilian cherry boards. I am very happy with the results. These were very clean and accurate keyholes. I highly recommend that beginners make a test cut first. Things to consider: In addition to the usual positioning and depth setting, you also need to consider the direction of rotation of the bit AND the direction of your cut for safety and proper cutting. In my case, the test cut showed that the keyhole was upside down for my application. The solution was to rotate the workpiece 180 degrees, plunge in, and then "stretch" the workpiece through the drill. Be sure to wait for the blade to stop before attempting to remove the workpiece or you will ruin it. Installation was time consuming but easy. The cut itself was very easy, but getting the workpiece off the workbench wasn't easy because you have to line up the drill exactly with the hole you just made to detach the board from the drill. In my case, I couldn't get the drill off the machine first because the access hole was under the workpiece.
