Review on Dimmable LED Downlight Replacement – Parmida Industrial Electrical by Kevin Singh

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not as advertised. on recessed lights

Does not equal 100W. Not 1000lm. Doesn't dim silently. Bought a dozen and started replacing in the bathroom. Look at this picture. Shown is a 52W (920 lumens) Phillips Par30 halogen bulb on the left and a new LED on the right. Both lights about 5.5 above counter, same switch, same power level (on dimmer but 100% power). The light from the so-called 100W 1000lm LED does not even come close to the light output of the Par30. Silently adjustable. At less than 100% power through the dimmer, a very high-pitched squeak could be heard, although the volume was very low. Ease of installation. Took less than 5 minutes and only because I needed tools to pry back the tabs in the can to accommodate the spring wires. Simply inserted into the box and flush with the ceiling. If you're happy with light closer to the 50-60w equivalent then that's probably fine, but I wanted the 100w equivalent and they'll be back. Update: I bought a 19W Hypericon (100W equivalent) and the Hypericon is much better (for now). (a) They worked great and (b) as another reviewer wrote, the build quality is much better with a metal (not plastic) finish and top gasket. The Hyperikon are a bit more expensive and when I bought them the 2700k was out of stock so I had to buy the 3000k but I don't see any difference in the light colour.
