Haven't used it for welding yet but will come in handy when grinding or soldering things that shouldn't burn. It's not a big blanket, but it's enough to cover the immediate heat area. Funny, it says camping blanket on the packaging. This gave me the idea that putting it under a propane stove would also be great - just for reassurance. Hope this helps with the decision.
