Review on Stay Warm With MERIWOOL'S Mens 100% Merino Wool Midweight Half Zip Sweater by Edgardo Ennis

Perfect for my elderly husband who is always cold!

Certainly I can picture this on one of my sons who loves to be outdoors hiking and climbing, but it is also perfect for my 92 year old husband who has always been skinny and now has lost even more weight. He complains of the cold even in the summer here in SoCal! I got this very nice sweater for him and he didn't even want to take it off to go to bed, it was so comfortable. Although the sleeves are long (I think that works well for someone who wears this outdoors in the cold because they can pull the cuffs down over their hands) -- it was simple to fold the cuffs back once and the sweater still looks trim and fitted. The blue color is attractive and would look good with blue jeans. Merino wool is very comfortable, not scratchy, and if I remember to wash it in cold water only, I don't think it will be difficult to care for. This sweater is not bulky at all, so it will work very well as a layer under a jacket, and should be quite cozy outdoors even when we travel someplace that gets a bit nippy at night, like Monterey, where we will be taking a road trip to join our family on the 4th of July.As for sizing, my husband is not only pretty short -- about 5' 6" -- but weighs only about 120 pounds. I got a medium and except for the sleeves, it fits well. I think the wool, being lightweight, is somewhat forgiving. Still, for a tall person, I wonder if they would think it was a little short in the body, since it doesn't appear all that long on my husband. It's just about right for him, hitting him mid-hip.My husband doesn't like turtle necks, but even though you can zip this up all the way so it becomes, in effect, a turtle neck, it also works fine to not zip it up so far and create a collar effect. All in all, this is a very comfortable sweater that will keep someone comfortable under a variety of weather conditions, either as an inner layer under a jacket, or by itself. It' not inexpensive, but with care in washing should last for many years -- a wardrobe classic.

Pros
  • My going to town shirt
Cons
  • The limited color options may not fit everyone's personal style
