It's cheap but mine is well built and works! I did a lot of electronics work so I removed the cover and looked inside. That's easy. That's what I wanted. No electronics. It's electrical and mechanical (aka electromechanical). Electricity is not required. Just switches connected to a small circuit board, I/O ports connected to a small circuit board, and a ribbon cable between the two boards. The advantage is that there are no active components that can fail. No tangles of wires between switches and ports. Another benefit of electromechanical switching is that you can use it "backwards" as a 1 In 4 Out switch to select 1 output at a time - you need to rename the outputs to inputs and the inputs to outputs. This would not be possible with active electronics. Some people might want to see level controls and some gain. Not at this price point, but there are relatively cheap blenders out there - that's basically what they're asking for. Also, all my devices (inputs and outputs) have their own controls. All I wanted was a switch. The only downside is the weight. It's very easy. It's no surprise to me, but you either have to hold it when you press the button, attach it to something, or weigh it down. I've seen several bad block reviews. I thought I would dare. I could always trade it in for a working unit, but I couldn't assemble one for twice the price and 1 switch out of 4 is hard to come by.
