I don't have the money for high-end devices, but I enjoy music, so I'm always looking for ways to improve the sound quality. I'm using my Samsung Blu-Ray player as a CD drive and video player by connecting the S/PDIF line to the DAC on my Onkyo receiver. I figured the old monster cable I was using was up to the task. After reading several discussions on the internet about the need for good quality cables for good musicality, I decided to test the hypothesis. So I ordered this Mediabridge and started comparing. I put in a CD of Herbie Hancock's Fat Albert Rotunda. I used the receiver's Direct Out mode to listen through Phillips SHP9500 headphones. While the Monster cable was nice and transparent in the high frequencies, I found it lacked precision in the mids and lows. With Mediabridge, I could clearly hear previously disabled instruments. Now I had a more balanced presentation. So I think the quality of the cables is important. For a few dollars investment, I'm enjoying my music better than ever.
