Not sure if I have a defect but it seemed to work fine. Print quality is terrible, black text looks rasterized and pixelated even at 1200 dpi. It also prints very brightly even when set to a higher value. The situation is even worse when converting a color image to a monochrome. If mine wasn't defective I would avoid this printer like the black plague. Much worse than the equal brother he replaced. Finally, the interface for interacting with the printer is extremely simplified and looks straight out of the 1980s. There aren't many options to set (like auto-continue etc.) and the UI is all text and is a terrible UI. The printer is very fast, but that's probably because it needs to slow down and print better. He comes back.
