Review on Men's Razor Blade Sharpener - RazorPit, Black: Enhance Razor Blade Longevity by Patricia Wilson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Seems worth the money so far

I finally decided to buy it when the price fell below $16 temporarily. So far I am satisfied with the purchase. I have a moderate amount of facial hair. I usually shave 5 times a week (I don't usually shave on the weekends), although sometimes I can skip the workday and only shave 4 times. I am currently using the Proglide Fusion system. I usually change my razor every 2-3 weeks. After the 3rd week I will definitely notice a deterioration in quality and a less comfortable shave. I got a razor with a pit about 2 months ago and have been using the same razor for 8 weeks now. The current shaving comfort is still better than before after 2 weeks. Assuming a blade cost of $3, my previous annual cost per blade would have been around $50. If blades can now last me 8-9 weeks instead of 2-3 weeks, my blade would now cost $18 a year. That's a savings of $32 a year, so in that sense it was worth it. Others have mentioned much cheaper solutions (a towel, a hand, a piece of old denim). I've tried them before and didn't get good results, probably mostly because I forgot or because it was a little less comfortable. It's also a good sturdy holder for my razor (which I keep in the shower) and as I put the razor back in I'm more likely to remember using it.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Exorbitant piggy bank
