They're designed like a tank (and it can be literal), they're heavy and strong. If you told me before you came here that you still make these scissors, I would call you a liar. My mom has a great pair from the 60's (from another company) and they are about the same. If you are looking for strong, sharp and durable scissors, buy these. They do have a few downsides: They're not as comfortable and ergonomic as some of the newer plastic-handled scissors I have, but they're a lot stiffer than the more comfortable ones. They also don't have a design that can be quickly disassembled (screwed together) like some other scissor models. But they should last forever, and these usually won't. They're also quite heavy compared to some of the newer scissor designs, but you can't have everything at the same time. Few. If you're looking for a pair of sturdy scissors at a price that doesn't make you feel kiss-first, then this is the pair. (I bought them for less than $10) Buy them!
