We bought this Cargo Carrier for a 1500 mile round trip. We made sure it's safe and used a non-slip mat. We had no problems with its movement or noise while driving. There were no tears or tears on any part of it. We rode through very strong storms on both legs of our trip. There was some water in the trunk. It probably wasn't enough to wet the suitcases to get our clothes wet. In another review I read the recommendation to only cover suitcases with a large garbage bag as an extra precaution. I did this and no water got on our suitcases.
