Doesn't work well on wooden floors; For use on carpet

I've bought a few cardboard scrapers over the years so I know what to expect from them. I had a flat rectangular type and a type with rounded raised ends. Both my deceased senior cat and my newborn 1 year old cat loved the look with the raised ends. Unfortunately they weren't available at a reasonable price when I ordered them, so I went with this one as it had such good reviews. Well my kitty hates this one. Once she sat on him for a while and made a little scratching movement and now she doesn't touch him and he's been sitting there for several days. She used to dangle and lie on the scratching post, now nothing. My specific comments: 1. The waveform makes it unstable. If they stand up or jump on the end that is facing up, the other end will go up. (Imagine stepping on a rake on the ground.) This startles the cat, causing it to stagger to move on. Maybe it would be more stable if it was on carpet, but I have it on a wooden floor.2. While some reviewers said their cat liked the double texture, mine didn't seem to like it. My theory is that they like to put their nails in the standard small holes and the long side holes aren't as attractive. I have already ordered another style. Unfortunately, this one seems like a waste of money. Update: I almost threw it away but decided to just put it in a carpeted room next to where my cat likes to hang out. Well, she started lying on it! Much more stable on carpet. I've seen her try to scratch it a little and it's still bad for her, but at least she's using it as a deck chair. Increase my 2 stars to 3.
