Comfortable with good features but lousy battery life

I've been using Logitech M510 mice for at least 10 years and wanted to try new mice with different features, maybe extra buttons. Mainly software development; some games and graphic design, but always long service life. The mouse feels good in the hand when used for a long time. It is very light and quite comfortable. I have large mittens the size of the Hulk, so YMMV, but the buttons are exactly where my hand would expect them to be and aren't awkward to press repeatedly. The scroll wheel is a bit stiff, the notches are responsive and quiet, and the third button works well. The steering wheel is a bit slippery but I think I'm used to more friction between the steering wheel and my fingers. Setup, software application and firmware update were surprisingly functional and easy to use; pretty happy with this process. Overall, I was happy with the features of the software and how it was implemented on the device. In a word, the battery life is suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. The charge lasts about 3 days of intensive use, then I have to plug it in. I'm used to several months between battery changes, this charge every few days for birds. In addition, you cannot charge the mouse via USB and continue to use it in wireless mode. Once the USB cable is connected to the mouse, it must be connected to the computer if you want to continue using the mouse. My KVM doesn't supply enough power to charge, so I basically can't use this mouse until it's charged - this is a game changer for me, although I like the rest of this mouse; My overall satisfaction would definitely increase if it had better battery life. I would have preferred a version that traded weight or LEDs for a month (let alone a week) of battery life.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
