The "not" handle is too tight for me and my husband's hands and I like that the handle is close to the pitcher so it doesn't take up more fridge space. : You need to hold the edges of the lid rim with one hand while turning the center dial with the other. Always the perfect seal. I have no problem grasping and carrying this jug with my arthritic hands. I prefer glass to plastic. And a big plus. . . It is NOT made in China! We've been using both sizes of pitchers for several months and still love them! They warn against using hot water in them.
