This vanity mirror is large, heavy, durable and attractive. One side has normal reflection and the other side has 10x magnification. There is black foam padding on the underside to keep the mirror in place. The mirror raises and lowers easily (but not by itself when the handle is held at an angle), and it's very easy to clean and remove stains. The only problem is that I can't open it to put the batteries in. I have very good hands as I have been making jewellery, repairing watches, making crafts, natural products etc for many years. I understood the instructions but I cannot open them. So I asked my father, who can disassemble and reassemble everything with his own hands. He used his hands, tools, tape, etc. but couldn't open it. I'm still happy with this mirror, but it would be nice to have a backlit option. However, I didn't just buy it for the light; I needed a new makeup mirror. I hope you will find it easier to put the batteries in. I gave up.
