Men's Overseas Drops

I heard about how good these shirts are for traveling so I bought two before my honeymoon in Japan. The shirts were comfortable initially, although slightly smaller than expected for the size. However, after walking around Kyoto for a day with a small backpack, I took off my shirt at the end of the day and found that the parts that came into contact with the backpack (through the North Face raincoat at the beginning of the day and by direct contact by the end of the day) completely detached and roughened in three large and conspicuous areas around the shoulders and base of the back. There was nothing special at the stern; The main panel that came in contact with the shirt was just plain mesh and padding. I didn't do any ridiculously strenuous activities or run, I just walked. Needless to say I am very disappointed as I can no longer wear this shirt without these obvious signs of wear. I was planning on using them in the gym when I got back to the US, but now one of the two is being permanently relegated to basic jersey status. I really expected more for the money I paid. I can't say what caused this problem; This may have been the result of the shirt's diamond weave coming into contact with the backpack's mesh. However, this is not a problem I've had with any other shirt, including another give-n-go t-shirt I've purchased. Apart from this problem, the shirt is fine; fast drying and moisture absorption met ExOfficio's requirements. However, both qualities are available from other shirt brands, and as such I can't in good conscience recommend a $40 shirt that can be ruined by a simple action that could easily be done while traveling, especially when travelers are their primary marketing demographic. It's also worth noting, as another reviewer did, if you're tall don't expect this shirt to tuck in when you'd rather wear your shirts that way. Thanks to the material and the length of the shirt, it is very easy to unbutton. Eventually I just stopped running them.
