My 3rd class is studying time at school. She finds plot problems very challenging. My husband and I find it very difficult to help her deal with her problems without visual aids. I looked to the faithful Revane to see what we could find that would be useful. This turned out to be the BEST learning tool we have ever bought. I'm particularly pleased that turning the minute hand clockwise advances the hour hand. It helps when we solve problems. I use it to ask her a question, I set the time and she tells me what time it is, or I ask her to set the time. Then we can solve problems together. For example, if you want to do your homework by 6:15 and have 25 minutes for reading, 15 minutes for science, and 40 minutes for math, when should you start your homework? These plot problems ended in great disappointment on all sides. Now she takes her little watch, sets it to tell the time, and moves the minute hand back (or forward, depending on the task) to help her find the answer. I see her learning more visually and this watch helped a lot with that. So much so that she offered to pay me back, which of course I declined, but it shows value when your child is struggling. I have seen other reviewers mention that the minute hand is not in sync with the hour hand. We didn't have this problem, but I did advise my daughter to only move the minute hand and never try to keep the hour hand in place by moving the minute hand. It seems like it would be easy to reset, but I'm not sure and don't want to experiment with my perfectly working watch. It's also a bit smaller than I imagined, but it's perfect for small hands and the size makes it easy to store. I'm very pleased that it has a detachable stand that makes it easy to see when you're doing your homework.
