This tower fan went together quickly & works great. It comes with a base in two parts that is lined up to connect. Then the pole is aligned to the body of the fan & attached to the base. It goes together pretty fast & easy. Tear the tape that holds the bottom of the fan together in two places & the fan is ready to go. The remote control slides in its own little slot in the back of the fan. It takes two AAA batteries that aren't included. The fan doesn't have to be used with the remote, there are controls on the top of the tower. Once the fan is on, the speed can be controlled with three speeds: low, medium & high. A mode key allows continuous, natural, or sleeps settings. The display indicates what mode the fan is in. When the fan is on a button can be pushed to start or stop the fan from oscillating. There's also a timer key to select the length of time before the fan shuts off & the timer can be increased in one-hour increments from one to seven hours. It does a really good job sending out cool air.
