I wanted to write a review about this item because I feel it should have a higher rating than it does. I usually avoid anything with less than 4 stars, but when I read the reviews for this item, I realized that a lot of the issues were related to larger animals, and yes, I could see why that might be a problem with a dog as these are lightweight panels -- but that's part of what I like. I have pet rats, and for them it's perfect. In particular, I like the large size of each panel, allowing me to make a large playpen with only twelve panels. The ability to make it wider or taller is also useful, as rats are very good jumpers, so I needed something with good height to know that they won't easily escape. I wouldn't leave them alone in there for long periods of time (they can chew through cable ties), but I feel comfortable leaving for short periods of time if needed. Also, I looked at a number of other similar types of playpens, and to get one with the same size and height would have required buying at least two, which would be around twice the price. As another reviewer mentioned, I didn't use all of the supplied attachments, I just cable tied everything together. This made it lower to the floor (as in less of an escape route) and super easy to accordion back up after use. If the playpen is not a permanent fixture but just being brought out as needed, folding all the panels up makes it very compact for storage. In fact, I liked this playpen so much I bought a second one to make an even bigger playpen. This second one had a defect in one of the panels, but the seller responded quickly and promptly took care of this for me. I highly recommend this playpen for smaller animals.
