I've been spoiled for a long time by an unnamed Korean copy that used the same panel as the 27" iMac 1440p and it was time for 4k and I wanted more. So I tried my hand at two VA panels and both were rubbish and suffered from severe color shift so I switched to IPS and after going through many review sites the other two market leaders BenQ and LG had models ruined by various review sites such as Rtings (LG) and PcMag, Tomshardware (BenQ). .high bounce rates.Dell monitors have a full spectrum of quality but UltraSharps are generally good.I have a 14 year old Ultrasharp 2405FPW which I paid $900 for in 2005, it was my first large monitor and it still works and looks looks great too saturated (I dropped it a bit), FRC helps a bit for HDR and the viewing angles are pretty solid for a 32". When it's on a 15-zo ll MacBook Pro is plugged in, it even charges the bad guy, which is cool (more on that). However, backlight. If fairly obvious on an all black screen, its uniformity is pretty mediocre and it shows up in very dark scenes in games/movies or photos and there is a noticeable slanting shadow at the edges of the screen. Unfortunately, this is the best 32-inch display I've personally seen and it's still disappointing. On a 2010 Mac Pro, the monitor works great but is only overshadowed by the backlight. Next is the fate of my working MacBook Pro 2017. Two days ago my MacBook Pro was working normally. Then yesterday morning I tried to connect it to a monitor and nothing happened. I tried a few more times and then settled on a MacBook Pro charger. I tried with another one. then went to the office and tried another one. It turned out that the ability to charge or use devices that provide power had stopped, and I handed my MacBook Pro over to my office manager to take to Apple. Now I'm also wondering if the USB 3.1c port grilled my MacBook Pro or what happened. to die? It was a 2017 MacBook Pro that wasn't known for its trouble-free existence. I can't prove it anyway, but I sent the monitor back as a precaution. That couldn't possibly be a mistake. However, this remains the only new device that could fry the chips on the Thunderbolt 3 ports or they just died. Now the question is, can I get another one? Is there anything with a better picture under $1100? :(/edit: I've landed on the new BenQ PD3220U and it's a significant upgrade. It's about double the price but doesn't offend my eyes either. Dell has lowered the price a lot since my original purchase, making it more appealing. It's not good, but not as terrible as many popular cheap 32-inch displays.
