I bought this and the Samsung HMX-F90 at the same time, tested them. Samsung was about 40% less and was new, Sony HDRCX330 was from Revain Warehouse Deals, used. While I liked the Samsung feel better, the user interface, the fact that it's a Samsung (like my phone and TV) there was no comparison when I uploaded clips of the same scene captured with both cameras to my computer downloaded. The Sony picture is brighter and the colors are deeper, but Sony had three big advantages: 1) Steady Shot works like a dream. My Samsung frames jump, especially when I zoom in. Sony hides that kind of tremor - it's amazingly smooth. 2) The sound is better with Sony. My daughter's voice from the large room is loud and clear on the Sony, weaker and fuzzy on the Samsung. 3) The use of the zoom is hardly audible with the Sony during the subsequent video playback, with the Samsung the grinding of gears is present and makes other noises almost incomprehensible. Another reviewer found fault with the tiny joystick that controls the menus. I really like it and find it quick and easy to navigate. However, the actual screen interface looks like it was designed in 1995 and finding the right setting is counterintuitive. Samsung is modern and pleasant. However, I bought them to get the best picture and sound. I am returning the Samsung and am happy with this Sony.
